Leveling Philosophy

In order to thoughtfully scale the company and avoid downstream inequities, we’ve adopted a flat titling structure at One. Though we may occasionally post a role externally with a prefix such as “Senior” to reflect the external level of the position, we do not use prefixes in titles like that internally unless in a position which manages a team. Internal titles typically include your specific functional responsibility, such as engineering, product management or sales, and often include additional descriptors to ensure clarity of role and placement within our organization (i.e. “Engineer, Platform”, “Sales, Business Development” or “Manager, Talent”). Employees are paid commensurate with their experience and the internal level within OnePay.

Inclusion and Belonging

To build technology and products that are used and loved by people and solve real-world problems, we need to build a team with many different perspectives and experiences. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Data Analytics Hybrid Data Analyst (Data Science Support) at Spotlight Sports Group

Delivers reporting, dashboards, and ad hoc analysis while providing flexible support to data science projects, testing models, and maintaining data infrastructure.

Mid Hybrid Posted 12 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Spotlight Sports Group is a global media and technology company with a clear purpose, to set the standard for trusted, customer-driven experiences across global racing and sports betting. Guided by our mission to create experiences that fans love, we combine more than 40 years of heritage with bold innovation to deliver award-winning content, data and digital products. With over 400 employees worldwide, our portfolio includes Racing Post, Pickswise, myracing and Free Super Tips, as well as the international marketing agency ICS-digital and ICS-translate. Together, we partner with leading operators, affiliates and media groups to power growth and engagement across the industry.

This Data Analyst (Data Science Support) role sits within our Data Intelligence Unit and splits its time between core Analyst-function delivery and Data Science support across Racing and Sports. Day to day, the role delivers reporting, dashboards and analysis as part of the wider Analyst team. When the Data Science function needs it, whether that’s covering the Lead Data Scientist during absence or high demand, or absorbing overflow when multiple B2B Data Science projects land at the same time, the role flexes into Data Science support.

This role is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys moving between structured analyst work and more exploratory data science problem-solving, and who is comfortable operating at the intersection of the two disciplines. An interest in data science and statistical modelling is helpful for context, but strong core analyst skills and the flexibility to pick up Data Science work are essential.

Key accountabilities:

  • Reporting & Analysis: Deliver reporting, dashboards and ad hoc analysis for internal and external stakeholders as part of the Analyst team’s regular workload, and maintain the data roadmap dashboards and associated tracking.

  • Data Science Cover: Provide cover for the Lead Data Scientist during absence or periods of high demand, reducing the single point of failure risk in the consolidated Data Science function.

  • Overflow Capacity: Absorb overflow capacity when multiple B2B Data Science projects are running concurrently, supporting delivery without disrupting core Analyst-team output.

  • Production Support: Support ad hoc manual runs and production tasks tied to the SiQ platform (Group Racing Platform, Python scripts, Sports Data Platform).

  • Model Testing: Assist with testing and validation of new or updated Data Science models under the Lead Data Scientist’s direction.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a day-to-day point of contact for Racing, Sports and B2B stakeholders on data requests, keeping practices consistent with wider Data function standards.

  • Strong analytical skillset, with hands-on experience querying and manipulating data (SQL essential).

  • Confident working in Excel for reporting, tracking and ad hoc analysis.

  • Working knowledge of Python, or a clear ability to pick it up quickly.

  • Comfortable moving between structured, day-to-day analyst work and more exploratory data science problem-solving.

  • Clear, confident communicator, able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Prior exposure to statistical modelling or data science techniques.
  • Experience with AWS (CloudWatch, Batch Jobs, Step Functions) or similar cloud data infrastructure.
  • Interest in or experience with sports or racing data.

We offer a range of well-being initiatives, including private medical insurance, excellent parental leave, a working globally policy, mental health support, assistance programs, and social gatherings. We also provide a pension scheme and various other benefit schemes. Plus, we all get our birthdays off work and enjoy 25 days of holiday per year.

We’ve also got you covered with life assurance and exclusive perks like the Star card and our Step Further Awards (our employee recognition program) to recognise your dedication. For those working via the hybrid model (in the office and at home) we’ve made commuting easier with our Season Ticket Loan and Cycle to Work Scheme.

You can also take advantage of complimentary access to our Racing Post Members Club, complete with an Ultimate Membership. We believe in making a positive impact beyond the workplace, and you’ll have the chance to volunteer two days per year with our charity partner.

What this role involves

About Waymark

Waymark is a mission-driven team of healthcare providers, technologists, and builders working to transform care for people with Medicaid benefits. We partner with communities to deliver technology-enabled, human-centered support that helps patients stay healthy and thrive. We’re designing tools and systems that bring care directly to those who need it most—removing barriers and reimagining what’s possible in Medicaid healthcare delivery.

Our Values

At Waymark, our values are the foundation of how we work, grow, and support one another:

  • Bold Builders: We tackle the toughest challenges in care delivery by harnessing the power of community and technology.
  • Humble Learners: We seek feedback, embrace diverse perspectives, and welcome challenges to our assumptions.
  • Experiment to Improve: We use data to inform decisions and continuously assess our performance.
  • Focused Urgency: Our mission drives us to act swiftly and relentlessly in pursuit of meaningful results.

If this resonates with you, we invite you to bring your creativity, energy, and curiosity to Waymark.

About this role

At Waymark, our data science work is grounded in a specific and meaningful challenge: using claims, EHR, and care worker data to help community health workers, social workers, pharmacists, and care coordinators deliver better care to Medicaid patients.

As a Data Scientist you will contribute to building the models and tools that these care teams rely on — risk models, care gap prediction, and ML/AI applications including LLM-based tools that translate raw clinical data into actionable guidance. You will work closely with senior data scientists and engineers to learn how ideas move from prototype to production, and will be expected to take on increasing ownership as you develop in the role.

This is a position for someone who is technically strong, eager to learn healthcare data, and motivated by the idea that their work will directly affect the care of low-income patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and validate ML and AI models on claims and EHR data for care delivery use cases including risk stratification and care gap identification, under guidance of senior data scientists
  • Support the development of LLM-based tools and AI applications for care team workflows
  • Develop and maintain Python code for data processing, model development, and ML pipelines, following software engineering best practices including version control, code review, and testing
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and analytics teams to understand requirements and translate them to technical solutions
  • Develop Healthcare Subject Matter Expertise: Show a strong interest in healthcare data structures, quantitative methods, and data science applications in healthcare

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Python Proficiency: 3+ years of hands-on Python experience including academic and project work — demonstrated through a GitHub portfolio or equivalent
  • Solid foundations in statistical and machine learning methods, including classical ML and an understanding of modern AI and LLM applications
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working with large, messy real-world datasets
  • Experience working with Git and collaborating in a team codebase
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of industry data science experience
  • Exposure to healthcare data (claims or EHR) through coursework, research, or work experience
  • Familiarity with ML experimentation practices — experiment tracking, model validation, reproducible workflows
  • Genuine curiosity about healthcare and its intersection with technology
