What this role involves

The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. It’s why we have a world-renowned newsroom that sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. It’s why we focus deeply on how our readers will experience our journalism, from print to audio to a world-class digital and app destination. And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for.

Mission Overview & Responsibilities:

The Senior Designer, Marketing plays an important, hands‑on role in developing campaigns and marketing efforts that support The New York Times’ business for the News product and All Access subscription. You will sit within the News+ marketing department and report to the Creative Director, Design, Marketing.

This is a temporary, 6 month role. This is a remote-friendly position.

You will work closely with other marketing creative team members (writers, designers and our audio and video teams), as well as partners in marketing and media strategy, product design, audience insights and brand identity to bring to life campaigns across the marketing funnel that drive performance while upholding a high bar for design craft. You will lead creative ideation, execution and production of marketing assets, and help evolve the design systems, libraries and templates that support experimentation at scale.

You bring a refined aesthetic, a nuanced understanding of typography, layout and color, motion design and advanced design craft skills. You are idea‑focused and can do the work of bringing ideas to life that inspires and excites others.

As a member of the marketing creative team, you will continue to bring fresh ideas to the main challenge of marketing our world‑class journalism and lifestyle products to readers in this moment and why it’s worth engaging with and paying for.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute conceptual, visually compelling marketing campaigns for the News product and All Access bundle, ensuring work supports awareness, consideration, conversion and retention goals across the full reader and subscriber journey.

  • Design and adapt campaign creative across paid, owned and earned channels — including digital, social, email, in‑app placements, app stores and OOH — in line with The Times’ brand standards and News+ marketing strategy.

  • Translate in‑product experiences, editorial formats and key feature benefits into clear marketing assets that deepen engagement and drive habitual use of the News product and All Access bundle.

  • Implement the practical application of design systems for News and All Access marketing, including creating, implementing and maintaining component libraries and style guides in Figma, and ensuring pixel‑perfect execution across platforms and devices.

  • Collaborate with writers, art directors, audio and video partners to concept, refine and ship creative that clearly communicates the value of our journalism and our lifestyle products and drives subscriptions and engagement.

  • Help develop and maintain scalable visual systems, templates and libraries that enable disciplined experimentation across paid and owned marketing channels while upholding a high bar for craft and brand consistency.

  • Work from creative briefs, participate actively in reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders, staying comfortable with shifts in strategy or approach based on the news cycle or evolving business needs.

  • Create clear, compelling presentation materials and articulate the rationale for your design decisions to colleagues and leadership, connecting creative choices to performance, user behavior and broader marketing strategy.

  • Bring fresh ideas and a spirit of experimentation to how we market our journalism, product experiences and bundles, contributing to a culture of continuous learning on the marketing creative team.

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

  • You will report to the Creative Director, Design, Marketing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of hands-on graphic design experience at an advertising agency, digital agency, studio or in‑house team, with a focus on marketing or advertising creative and experience in growth‑oriented campaigns.

  • A portfolio should show both thoughtful execution and conceptual thinking. It should span social, digital display, email, in‑app, app store, and print. The portfolio should include clear examples of how design choices clarify complex ideas.

  • Deep proficiency in core visual design principles — typography, layout, balance, hierarchy, proportion, color, emphasis and unity.

  • Expert‑level skills in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, including building and maintaining components, styles, libraries and design systems used across a marketing organization.

  • Demonstrated expertise in design systems: creating component libraries and style guides; ensure pixel‑perfect execution.

  • Proficiency in motion graphics and animation, with hands-on experience using After Effects and other motion tools to bring narratives to life across marketing channels.

  • Experience partnering with developers and product teams to ship high‑quality digital experiences.

  • Experience translating strategy into actions and showing initiative in addressing challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comfort working cross‑functionally with partners in marketing strategy, media, product design, audience insights and brand identity.

  • Understanding of trends in digital advertising and growth marketing,

  • Familiarity with the latest social media ecosystem and how brands show up in a way that feels authentic and aligned with standards.

  • The ability to navigate a complex organization: building and leveraging key relationships.

Design Pixel One: Senior Visual designer

Senior visual designer leads client design projects from strategy through delivery, directing team specialists and solving product challenges through compelling design solutions.

Senior Remote Posted 1 day ago We Work Remotely — Programming
What this role involves

Headquarters: Canada
URL: https://pixel-one.com/

Full-time · Remote (Canada based preferred)

Pixel One is a design studio for ambitious B2B SaaS teams. We embed with our clients, join their standups, and stay with their product as it evolves. Average client retention is 24+ months, which means you'll see what your work does to a business over years, not weeks.

We're looking for a Senior Visual Designer to own client work from concept through final delivery. This is not a role where you execute someone else's brief. You'll understand the business strategy behind each project, identify the user experience problems our client's customers have been stuck on, and use design to solve them.

You'll work directly with our leadership, our client's leadership, our design leads and you'll direct specialists in motion, and illustration on your projects.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years designing digital products (ideally with an agency)
  • Strong fundamentals:
    • Excellence in communication (can communicate with a team and various stakeholders)
    • Excellence in aesthetic (UI/Visual design)
    • Excellence in craft (Figma Hygiene, design principles and delight)
    • Excellence in strategy (Can interpret vague requirements and clarify them + can drive product change through compelling concepts, prototypes and mockups)
  • Expert-level Figma. Comfort with prototyping (AI or traditional tools) and motion is a strong plus
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and delegate work to a teammate (production designer)
  • Confident communicator who can present and defend work directly to senior clients and founders. Our clients are opinionated and educated about design, it's not your typical agency! You will need to defend great design less vigorously but it will be expected more often.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to move fast without dropping quality
  • Self-driven and organized enough to run your own project workflows without being managed

Responsibilities

  • Produce design work at a consistently high quality tier, with meticulous attention to craft, precision, and completeness.
  • Define the design challenge at a strategic level, connecting solutions to client goals, strategy, and business vision. Identify the historical positioning problems behind each brief and design with those in mind
  • Build and maintain style kits that give the team and collaborators a clear, consistent visual language
  • Brief and coordinate specialists: translate client requirements into actionable direction for production designers, illustrators, motion designers, 3d artists and give feedback that keeps output aligned with the creative vision
  • Communicate proactively with clients: estimate effort and timelines accurately, respond to Slack within one business hour during working hours.
  • Own projects end to end, from brief through final delivery
  • Maintain asset hygiene: files clean, structured, and aligned with team fundamentals
  • Manage project operations in Notion, keeping planning pages, task boards, and meeting notes current without being prompted
  • Prioritize effectively, focusing on the right tasks in the right order at the right time
  • Participate actively in team rituals: crits, elevate sessions, and growth activities

Highlights

Meaningful work: Partner directly with founders and executives at companies building serious products. Your designs ship to real users and move real businesses. Our clients come back after they exit. We develop deep relationship with them which means we're able to see the impact of our work overtime (unheard of in a traditional agency).

Exceptional team: Work alongside designers who are generous collaborators, not competitors. Everyone here is deeply skilled and genuinely invested in lifting the team up.

Remote: We're distributed (mostly across Canada) and flexible about where you work, as long as you cover PT and ET hours with stellar internet.

Offsites: We meet in person at least 2 times per year! These are good moments to get the team together, celebrate our accomplishments and align on a unified vision. Past locations: Montreal, Toronto, Barcelona, Greece, Miami,  Mont-Tremblant,  Tulum

Growth investment: We cover courses, workshops, and other learning you want to pursue. Just bring it to your manager. We also run weekly elevate sessions where the team sharpens design and thinking skills together.

Cross-disciplinary collaboration: Work with motion designers, illustrators, and other specialists. You'll expand your craft and find more opportunities for delight.

️ Clarity: You'll know what's expected of you, what you need to succeed in the role, and how to grow beyond it.

⛑️ Health insurance: All Canada based employees receive private health insurance.

All applications will be reviewed through our recruiting system, and we'll reach out to selected candidates with the next steps.

Design YouTube Video Editor (Freelance / Contract) at Mobbin

Edit long-form YouTube videos with focus on pacing, sound design, and visual clarity for a design education channel.

Mid Remote Posted 2 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About Mobbin

Our mission is to empower the world to design great digital experiences.

Mobbin helps designers and product people find highly-relevant references to their design problems. Today, Mobbin is serving over a million users and is used by most design-forward companies such as Wise, Airbnb, Headspace, Duolingo, Uber, and more.

Read more about who we are: https://careers.mobbin.com

The role

Mobbin is looking for a YouTube Video Editor to help us turn raw footage into videos worth watching twice.

Over the past 4 years, Mobbin has grown to 3M+ registered users almost entirely through product and organic word-of-mouth. Since Mobbin is a visual product, it’s best understood through visual education, and we’re doubling down on video as a primary growth engine.

This is a hands-on editing role. Scripting, filming, and strategy are handled by the team. Your job is to take that raw material and cut it into videos that feel as premium and intentional as the Mobbin product itself.

You’ll be working directly with Rachel How, who runs the Mobbin YouTube channel and her personal channel.

What you’ll do

  • Edit long-form YouTube videos: From raw footage, screen recordings, and scripts — talking-head pieces, UI/UX teardowns, product deep-dives, and educational content.

  • Own pacing and story in the cut. Trim the fat, find the rhythm, and keep viewers watching. A great edit should make a 12-minute video feel like 6.

  • Sound design & mixing: Clean dialogue, tasteful music selection, and sound effects that add polish without calling attention to themselves.

  • Visual clarity: Color correction, clean captions/subtitles, and simple on-screen text and callouts that make UI details legible and easy to follow.

  • Iterate fast: Turn around edits on a predictable schedule, incorporate feedback in tight loops, and keep project files organized so nothing gets lost between rounds.

You should

  • Be a master of the edit: You have a portfolio (or channel) that proves you can tell a story in the timeline. You care about pacing, sound design, and visual clarity. And it shows in your work.

  • Have great taste: You understand why designers love Mobbin. You can watch a screen recording of an app and instinctively know which moments deserve a slow push-in and which should be cut. You can understand how a script translates into an edit intuitively and how it could resonate with the Mobbin audience and branding.

  • Know YouTube as a format: You understand retention curves, hooks, and why the first 30 seconds matter. You edit for viewers, not just for the brief. You understand an edit makes or breaks attention in long form videos.

  • Be fluent in your tools: Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent. We care about the output, not the software.

  • Be reliable and self-directed: As a part-time contractor you’ll manage your own schedule. We need someone who communicates clearly, hits agreed deadlines, and flags problems early.

  • Bonus: Motion graphics chops (After Effects), collaborated using Frame.io or equivalent before, thumbnail design sense, or experience editing for any other YouTube channels.

Working with Mobbin

We are a small team that’s highly passionate about our craft and committed to delivering exceptional results. We build with a clear focus on serving our customers — creating the best possible product that solves real customer problems is what truly matters to us.

  • Work on content for a product loved by millions of designers, builders & product teams all over the world.

  • Zero-ish meeting culture — feedback happens async, so you can focus on the edit.

  • High autonomy and agency: we hire the best & brightest and trust them to figure out what’s best.

  • No BS culture, no external optics — just real, meaningful, impact-focused work.

  • Most importantly, join a team that truly & deeply cares about the product and customers.

  • Mobbin is global remote. Work from anywhere. We have colleagues based in over 8 countries globally.

    • We’re HQ-ed in Singapore, but this role is fully remote-friendly.

    • Note: Rachel is based in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) (GMT+8).

  • As our video output scales, so can this engagement.

The details

  • Type: Freelance / Independent contractor

  • Commitment: Part-time, 2~4 videos per month to start

  • Location: Remote (async-friendly), any timezone with reasonable overlap to SGT

  • Turnaround: Typically a first cut within ~5 working days of receiving footage (we’ll agree on this together)

Design Product Designer - 12-month contract at Ratehub.ca

Owns end-to-end design process from research and ideation through delivery, creating intuitive UX/UI experiences for a fintech platform serving millions of Canadian users.

Mid Remote Posted 4 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

WHO IS RATEHUB?

We’re a company on a mission. We are a unique Canadian Fintech that is the one-stop shop for all financial needs of the consumer: Save, Spend, Borrow, Invest, and Protect. Every single team member — from Product & Engineering to Sales & Marketing, Finance, Operations, and everything in between — is obsessed with one thing: helping Canadians make better financial choices. And we’re pretty great at it, too. Via our digital application technology and our award-winning in-house brokerages, we help over 2M Canadians per month make a positive impact on their finances. We have many unique businesses: a mortgage brokerage, a life insurance brokerage, a home and auto insurance brokerage, a mortgage originations and servicing business, a Financial Services Marketplace, and a content business across Ratehub and MoneySense. 365 days a year, we deliver our users the best online mortgage experience, personalized credit card and loan options, and cheaper auto and home insurance policies than they typically get from their existing financial adviser.

Changing how people make financial choices isn’t easy, though. We know that achieving our mission is full of challenges — challenges that can be complex and often unexpected but that are always interesting, rewarding, and fun to solve as a team. This is where you come in. We are on the hunt for the right candidate to join us and help lead us forward to continued growth.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our growing team on a 12 month contract, with a possibility of extension: someone who takes end-to-end ownership of the design process, from discovery to final delivery. The ideal candidate is equally strong in UX and UI, passionate about solving user problems, and skilled at transforming high-level ideas into intuitive user experiences that drive real impact. Although headquartered in downtown Toronto, Ratehub is a remote-first company and as such, we’re open to remote candidates.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Design:

  • Own the end-to-end design process, from research and ideation to prototyping, validating, and delivering high-impact product experiences that help our users make smart financial decisions.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, using research, usability testing, A/B testing, and other analytical tools to understand and validate ideas, problems, and solutions, ensuring every decision delivers measurable value to users.
  • Partner with product, engineering, data, marketing, and content teams to translate ideas into meaningful, user-centered experiences.
  • Design responsive and consistent experiences across mobile and desktop.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure design feasibility, high-fidelity implementation, and visual and functional accuracy in the final product.
  • Contribute to product roadmaps and sprint planning alongside product and engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain design backlogs, and help shape design strategy for the next 6–24 months.
  • Support additional design needs from content and marketing initiatives across Ratehub and MoneySense.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to align on goals, gather requirements, and co-create solutions.
  • Communicate design concepts and rationale clearly and persuasively to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.

Design Systems and Standards:

  • Build and maintain scalable design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across products.
  • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG) and deliver inclusive user experiences.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and methodologies.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing responsive designs for web and mobile platforms.
  • Proven ability to own the end-to-end design process: user research, ideation, prototyping, UX/UI design, and usability testing.
  • Strong UX and UI design skills, with excellent attention to detail and a deep understanding of how to craft intuitive, impactful user experiences.
  • High proficiency with Figma.
  • Proven ability to leverage both quantitative and qualitative data to validate design decisions, with proficiency in usability testing tools (e.g., usertesting.com, Maze) and analytics tools (e.g., Heap, Hotjar)
  • Highly organized and self-sufficient, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Skilled at breaking down complex problems into simple, intuitive solutions and iterating quickly based on feedback.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining scalable, component-based design systems using modern design principles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present design rationale and align cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Bias toward action — balancing quality and speed, knowing when to dive deep and when to move quickly
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and experienced in designing 0→1 products and features.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in UX Design or a related field.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience working with Storybook or Wordpress.
  • Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, Javascript).
  • Experience designing for customer-facing financial services products

CULTURE FIT:

  • Members first - we prioritise the interests and needs of our members above all else.We solve member pain points and focus on member satisfaction. We start with members, and end with the P&L.
  • Growth mindset  - we set ambitious goals and challenge the status quo. We take responsible risks and are accountable for our actions.
  • Better together - we are One team with One common goal. We make our footprint bigger than our foot, leave our egos at the door, support each other to achieve great results as One company.
  • Run after problems - we tackle problems head on and focus on finding solutions. Obstacles are seen as opportunities for growth and innovation. We have the hard conversations and choose the harder right over the easier wrong. And we do it with a smile.
  • Measure Learn Iterate Innovate - we focus on getting things done. We measure what matters, iterate, learn, iterate many times in a data-driven way, which is how we will innovate.

JOB PERKS:

  • Competitive Compensation: A salary that reflects your experience and the Canadian market.
  • Remote-First Environment: The flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada, with occasional in-person team gatherings for collaboration.

JOB TITLE: Senior Product Designer II

LOCATION: Remote, US only

THE ROLE

You know how to read a funnel, identify where an experience is failing, and fix it with the same craft and precision you’d bring to anything else. You bring a clear point of view to ambiguous work, hold craft standards even when things move fast, and design toward outcomes you can actually measure. You’ll work closely with our Principal Designer on Growth across the full scope of how Splice acquires, activates, and retains creators.

When you join Splice, you join a network of colleagues, peers, and collaborators. Are you ready?

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Execute high-quality design across the full growth scope. Onboarding, subscription and paywall experiences, referral programs, core site, and lifecycle moments. You carry the craft standard across all of it, from early concept through shipped product.
  • Partner with our Principal Designer on Growth to shape what gets built. You bring a point of view early, share it clearly, and then hold it loosely enough to change your mind when the work proves you wrong. You contribute to product decisions, not just execute them. You push back if briefs are too vague and distill fuzzy input into clear design questions.
  • Drive experimentation with rigor. You identify where experience and data signal a real problem, frame a hypothesis, design the variants, and interpret results to inform what comes next. You know what a good experiment looks like and what makes a bad one — including when they’re scoped too small to tell you anything, aimed at the wrong lever, or when the result is actually pointing you at the real problem elsewhere entirely.
  • Ship work that moves metrics. Success is concrete: more creators completing onboarding, stronger conversion through the subscription experience, lifecycle moments that bring people back. You’ll see the numbers and know which ones you moved.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, PMs, engineers, and data scientists. You build working relationships that make fast, high-quality shipping possible. You communicate trade-offs clearly and keep things moving without waiting on a handoff.
  • Contribute to the design system. You build in a way that scales, flag inconsistencies when you see them, and contribute components when you identify gaps.
  • Use AI-native tools as a standard part of your practice. Cursor, Claude, and similar tools belong in your daily workflow — for rapid prototyping, exploring directions, and accelerating execution.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time in a growth, conversion, or retention context. You’ve shipped real work that produced real outcomes.
  • Your portfolio shows a refined eye and a high standard of execution. Work that doesn’t demonstrate this clearly won’t move forward.
  • You are already using AI-native tools (Cursor, Claude, or equivalent) as a standard part of your workflow. This is a baseline expectation, not a bonus.
  • Experimentation fluency. You understand A/B testing, how to design for it, and how to read results without over-indexing on noise.
  • Funnel thinking. You can map a conversion funnel, identify where experience quality and business outcomes diverge, and design toward a specific outcome without losing sight of the user.
  • Metric fluency. You know which metrics matter for growth, how to interpret them in context, and how to set up a design decision so it can actually be measured.
  • You work fluidly within established design systems and contribute back to them.
  • You partner naturally with PMs and engineers. You influence product direction through your work and your thinking, not just your pixels.
  • You can present work clearly at every stage, from rough concept to leadership review, and articulate the reasoning behind a design decision without a lengthy preamble.

NICE TO HAVES

  • A genuine connection to music and creator culture. You understand what it means to be mid-session, chasing a sound, making something.
  • Front-end fluency (HTML/CSS/React). You can read and write code when it helps you move faster or communicate more precisely.
  • Experience with subscription or marketplace business models.

SPLICE BENEFITS:

  • Compensation & Equity: Competitive pay with annual reviews and equity opportunities.
  • Time Off: Unlimited PTO to recharge and thrive.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents.
  • Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with immediate vesting and company match.
  • Parental Support: 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave for non-birthing parents, and 18-20 weeks for birthing parents.
  • Flexible Work Options: Work remotely or connect at our office hubs and creative spaces worldwide.
  • Professional Growth: Annual learning budget, leadership programs, and team ambassador opportunities.
  • Community & Connection: Inclusive events, team meet-ups, and vibrant Employee Resource Groups.

The national pay range for this role is $160,000 - $200,000. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

You bring a clear point of view to ambiguous work, hold craft standards even when things move fast, and design toward outcomes you can actually measure. You’ll work closely with our Principal Designer on Growth across the full scope of how Splice acquires, activates, and retains creators.

WHO WE ARE

Splice is a creative platform for people who make music. Serious producers choose Splice Sounds to bring their ideas to life. A subscription to Splice inspires and accelerates creative success for digital music creators with an industry-leading catalog of sounds and samples and an expanding AI stack. With a rent-to-own marketplace of DAWs and plugins, the Splice experience seamlessly integrates into any music production workflow, regardless of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Via Splice, an unparalleled team of sound designers and sample creators are fueling the success of a growing global community of chart-topping producers, students, and DIY creators.

HOW WE WORK

At Splice, DISCO is a rallying cry for collaboration, accountability, and unity within our organization; Direct, Inclusive, Splice Together, Creator Centric, and Optimistic. Our shared success depends on our ability to support one another, work well together, and communicate directly. By embracing flexibility and a unified approach, we can navigate anything that’s thrown at us.

Splice embraces a culture of remote work. You’ll see your colleagues showing up from across the US and the UK. In order to keep us working well as a team, we have regular communication, including Town Halls, departmental all-hands and get-togethers.

Design Head of Design (North America/Europe - Remote) at Hospitable

Leads design vision and strategy for short-term rental software, builds and mentors a design team while maintaining hands-on design work across the platform.

Lead Remote Posted 6 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

TLDR; We build software for short-term rentals to rent themselves, with a state-of-the-art product and user experience.

We have crafted an Applicant Handbook, which we highly recommend you check out, where you can find out more about the company, culture, how we recruit, what we do, and how we do it: https://hsptb.com/hndbk

Hospitable is a remote-only, global, and trust-based company. We believe exceptional work comes from exceptional people — no matter their background, geography, or path. Our team spans continents, cultures, and experiences, and that diversity is one of our biggest advantages. We move fast, think boldly, and build with intention.

Our product is loved. Our customers are vocal. Our roadmap moves fast.

Feel free to join one of our upcoming public, bi-weekly Town Halls to get a glimpse of it for yourself: https://hsptb.com/twnhll

About the role

We are looking for our first Head of Design to own the craft, the standard, and the team behind every screen a host touches. Your mission: make Hospitable the best-designed product in short-term rental software—not “good enough for a PMS,” but a product people choose because using it feels effortless. You will build and lead a small team of product designers, and you will keep your own hands on the work. You will report to the CEO, Pierre, whose favorite fruit is Kiwi.

This is a player-coach role, not a manager-of-managers role. If you want to stop designing and only run a team, this isn’t it. If you want to set the bar with your own work and raise everyone else’s, keep reading.

What you will own

The design vision and standard

  • Own and set the overall design vision for the product, aligned with the company’s long-term strategy, not just where it is today. Every designer will execute against the direction you set.
  • Lead the design of the entire platform and own the quality bar end to end, making every interaction intuitive, every screen elegant, every feature a joy to use.
  • Keep shipping. Lead the highest-stakes design work yourself—from discovery and research through prototyping, visual design, and interaction design.

The design system

  • Own the design language, style guide, and component library—the system the rest of the team builds within. Keep it coherent as the platform and team grow.
  • Reduce complexity as a discipline. Kill inconsistency before it compounds.

The team

  • Develop and lead a deliberately lean, AI-leveraged design team and set how design operates here. From day one you’re directing the work, running quality control, and raising the standard of what ships.
  • Raise the standard of everyone around you through direct feedback and high expectations—the kind that makes designers do the best work of their careers.
  • Partner as an equal with Product and Engineering leadership to decide what we build, not just how it looks.

Data-informed decisions

  • Use research, analytics, experimentation, and direct customer feedback to make design calls and prove impact.

Hospitable is a remote-only and distributed company. The ideal fit would work in a European or North American (up to East Coast) timezone.

Don’t tick all the boxes? Talk to us about why you’re still an amazing fit. Here’s what we’re paying attention to:

  • A design leader who has set the quality bar at a product-led SaaS company within the last 5 years, and raised the standard of the designers around them—through direct feedback, hiring, and high expectations.
  • Proven ownership of design direction end-to-end, from discovery through shipped features, with a track record of showing the impact of that work, not just the deliverables.
  • Still hands-on. You lead by setting the bar with your own design work, not only by reviewing others’. You’ve kept your hands in the craft in the last 3 years rather than moving to pure management.
  • Research and briefing are among your sharpest skills, not just visual polish.
  • Strong product thinking: you shape what gets built, and you hold your own as an equal with Product and Engineering leadership.
  • High agency and ownership, and comfort getting maximum leverage from a lean setup and modern AI tooling in a remote, low-bureaucracy environment where you’re trusted, not managed.
  • You live and breathe in design tools. Nothing exotic: we use Whimsical for mockups, Figma for designs.
  • Special kudos if you have short-term rental, travel, hospitality, or proptech domain experience.

When you apply, tell us why this role and this mission. The applications that stand out are the ones that show you actually want to build this, here, with us.

The company itself is also a product, one that we iterate on. We’re always improving and creating an environment where we all love to work.

  • A supportive, radically transparent, and caring team environment, where you are trusted, not managed—and a culture that is focused on results and output.
  • The total cash budget for this role is between USD$171,000.00 to $218,900.00 depending on seniority and the cost of living in your location. We can hire talent internationally as contractors—or employees if you are based in the United States, the European Union, or Australia, taking into account payroll taxes to determine your gross compensation. The gross salary for US employees could be anywhere between $157,619.92 to $201,771.94.
  • We also offer compensation into the company equity through  (RSU’s), with a current grant value of up to $119,400.00 to share in the long-term upside value of the company.
  • Separately, this role is eligible for up to an additional $671,637 per year in Performance Share Units (PSUs). These PSUs do not vest over time and are granted only upon the achievement of clearly defined business performance targets. The size and payout of this award are directly tied to measurable outcomes and are intended to strongly align compensation with company impact. (General R&D manager pool with Andrew and Sam)
  • For US employees: healthcare (including EPO, PPO and HSA), 401(k).
  • 35 days off per year, encouraged (including self-serve public holidays) and parental leave.
  • Complimentary mental health and emotional support with therapists on call through Slack by .
  • Earn virtual coins through our peer recognition platform and redeem them through gift cards, donations, or monetary rewards.

Design Dropbox: Director, Product Design

Leads the design systems team to create reusable patterns, infrastructure, and standards that enable Dropbox's product teams to build coherent, high-quality experiences at scale.

Lead Remote Posted 6 days ago We Work Remotely — Programming
What this role involves

Headquarters: Remote - US: Select locations

Role Description

Dropbox’s Design team is looking for a Director of Product Design to define the next generation of product experiences and infrastructure for Dropbox. In this role, you will lead the vision, strategy, and execution for the systems, patterns, and operating model that shape how Dropbox builds coherent, high quality, multi product experiences at scale.

We are building a modern system that can support a broader portfolio of products, accelerate product teams to achieve product market fit, improve front end quality, and create durable patterns for the most important product experiences across Dropbox. You will lead the team responsible for turning repeated product needs into reusable experience infrastructure: interaction patterns, product frameworks, design primitives, implementation standards, and adoption models that make it easier for teams to build excellent Dropbox experiences.

As Director, you will oversee the evolution of Dropbox’s design system into a next generation design and technology platform. This includes the foundational system of components, tokens, accessibility standards, and documentation, but also the broader lifecycle of product patterns: how they are identified, designed, validated, built, adopted, measured, improved, and eventually deprecated. You will help move the team from a reactive model, where design systems patternize work after the fact, to a more proactive model, where the team helps shape core product experiences from the beginning.

You will also establish Design Systems and Design Technology as a center of excellence for front end product quality. This team should not only define what good looks like, but help build it. That means partnering deeply with product designers, engineers, product managers, researchers, brand, and leadership to create high leverage patterns that improve product coherence, accelerate execution, and raise the quality bar across web, mobile, desktop, and emerging AI native experiences.

The ideal candidate is a systems minded design leader with excellent product judgment, strong craft standards, deep experience leading multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to operate across strategy, execution, governance, and organizational influence. You should be equally comfortable defining a long term vision for the future of design systems, reviewing the details of a complex interaction pattern, partnering with engineering on implementation quality, and helping senior leaders understand where the product experience needs stronger horizontal investment.

This is a critical leadership role for Dropbox’s multi product future. You will help define how shared product experiences are built, how teams adopt them, how quality scales, and how Dropbox creates a more coherent, intelligent, and durable product experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the vision for Dropbox’s next generation design system, expanding it from a component library into a broader product experience platform for patterns, primitives, standards, and shared product logic.
  • Lead Design Systems and Design Technology as a center of excellence for front end product quality, interaction patterns, accessibility, implementation standards, and cross product experience coherence.
  • Build and evolve reusable product patterns that drive core Dropbox experiences, including navigation, creation flows, sharing, permissions, collaboration, onboarding, search, content activation, notifications, settings, admin workflows, and AI assisted experiences.
  • Move the team from reactive patternization to proactive product leadership, helping identify horizontal product needs early and shaping solutions that can scale across multiple Dropbox surfaces and teams.
  • Own the full lifecycle of shared patterns and components, including discovery, definition, design, prototyping, engineering partnership, adoption, measurement, maintenance, governance, and deprecation.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Brand, Marketing, and Design leadership to align on the highest impact horizontal opportunities and ensure shared systems directly support product strategy.
  • Raise the craft and quality bar across Dropbox by improving interaction design, visual quality, information architecture, accessibility, motion, content patterns, implementation fidelity, and front end consistency.
  • Create an operating model that makes adoption desirable rather than mandated, ensuring product teams see the system as a way to move faster, build better, and reduce duplicated effort.
  • Lead and develop a team of designers, design technologists, and systems specialists, creating clear ownership, strong critique practices, high standards, and a culture of pragmatic systems thinking.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to improve the relationship between design systems, code, product infrastructure, and front end delivery, ensuring that design intent is translated into high quality implementation.
  • Establish durable governance, measurement, and contribution models that help the system evolve continuously while maintaining quality, coherence, and accountability.
  • Help Dropbox prepare for AI native product experiences by defining systems that can encode design knowledge, guide product decisions, and support more adaptive, contextual, and intelligent experiences over time.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of product design, design systems, design technology, or front end experience, including significant experience leading complex systems or platform initiatives at scale.
  • 5+ years of people management experience, with a strong track record of leading senior designers, managers, design technologists, or multidisciplinary systems teams.
  • Deep experience building, scaling, or transforming design systems for complex multi product organizations.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to connect systems work directly to customer value, product strategy, execution speed, and business impact.
  • Exceptional systems thinking, with the ability to see patterns across teams, products, platforms, and workflows, then turn those patterns into reusable experience infrastructure.
  • High craft standards across interaction design, information architecture, visual design, accessibility, prototyping, content patterns, motion, and implementation quality.
  • Proven ability to influence senior cross functional partners, create alignment across ambiguous problem spaces, and drive horizontal product quality without relying on mandate alone.
  • Strong technical fluency and comfort partnering with front end engineering teams on component architecture, implementation standards, platform constraints, quality control, and system adoption.
  • Experience defining governance models, contribution models, quality standards, documentation practices, and lifecycle processes for shared product systems.
  • A clear point of view on the future of design systems, including how AI, design technology, design infrastructure, and reusable product logic should change how teams design and build.
  • A collaborative, low ego leadership style, with a track record of developing talent, raising standards, improving critique, and helping teams produce better work than they could have produced on their own.
  • A portfolio or body of work that demonstrates strong design leadership, systems strategy, product impact, organizational influence, and excellent taste.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading design systems, design technology, front end platform, or product infrastructure teams in a large scale, multi product organization.
  • Deep understanding of how to leverage content systems as part and parcel of the overall design system.
  • Experience building shared patterns for complex product domains such as collaboration, content management, permissions, search, productivity, AI, administration, or multi product ecosystems.
  • Strong technical fluency across coded systems, design tokens, component architecture, accessibility infrastructure, prototyping tools, and front end implementation quality.
  • A strong point of view on the future of design systems, including how AI, design technology, and reusable product logic should evolve the way teams design and build.
